How It Works

HOW IT WORKS

  1. The Ridgefield Playhouse BandJam competition is open to area Middle School and High School bands. You do not need to attend Ridgefield Schools to participate.
  2. Bands will be grouped in two categories:
    • High School (grades 9-12)
    • Middle School (grades 8 and below)
  3. Each band will be entered in the category linked to the oldest member of the band.  If any member of the band is a High School student, the band will be placed in the High School category.
  4. Bands must include at least three members and no more than eight.
  5. One key contact must be designated by the band to complete the official entry form.
  6. Semi-Finalist Bands (High School Bands and Middle School Bands) will be selected by a panel of judges from among all submissions received.
    • The Semi-Finalist Bands will be allotted 12 minutes to perform (minimum of two songs) in the Semi-Finals at The Ridgefield Playhouse before a panel of judges on Tuesday, May 25.
    • At least one of the songs performed at the Semi-Finals must be a cover.
    • Drums and PA provided by BandJam (drummers may bring their own drum pedals, stools and reasonable additional pieces). Participants may use amplification provided by BandJam or bring their own amps.
    • Semi-Finalist Bands will be judged by a panel of BandJam judges based on the criteria set forth in the BandJam Official Rules.  The decisions of the BandJam judges are final.
    • Finalist Bands will be selected from the High School and Middle School Bands that performed at the Semi-Finals.
  7. Winners of both the High School Band and Middle School Band categories will be selected by a panel of judges at the BandJam Finals.
    • The Finalist Bands will be allotted 12 minutes to perform (minimum of two songs) in the Finals at The Ridgefield Playhouse before a panel of judges on June 6.
    • At least one of the songs performed at the Finals must be a cover.
    • Drums and PA provided by BandJam (drummers may bring their own drum pedals, stools and reasonable additional pieces). Participants may use amplification provided by BandJam or bring their own amps.
    • Finalist Bands will be judged by a panel of celebrity and/or industry professionals based on the criteria set forth in the BandJam Official Rules.  The decisions of the BandJam judges are final.
    • Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the Finals at The Ridgefield Playhouse on June 6.
  8. IMPORTANT: Performances may not include any inappropriate language or message. Final approval of songs will be at the discretion of the BandJam judges.
  9. Prior to the Finals, each Semi-Finalist Band will rehearse with a Band Coach assigned by BandJam.
  10. Finalist performances will take place on June 6 beginning at 4:00 PM at The Ridgefield Playhouse.
