Ann Hampton Callaway “…superbly intelligent, singularly creative pop-jazz stylist who can stand shoulder to shoulder with Streisand, Ronstadt, Shirley Horn, and Dianne Reeves…” – JazzTimes — returns to the Playhouse with an exciting show kicking off Ella Fitzgerald’s centennial year. Callaway explores the breadth of Ella Fitzgerald’s repertoire in a show titled “The Ella Century” including fresh takes on classics such as, “How High the Moon,” “Mr. Paganini,” and “Every Time We Say Goodbye.” Ann won the Theater World Award and received a Tony nomination for her starring role in the Broadway musical “Swing!” She’s written over 250 songs including Platinum Award winning hits for Barbra Streisand and the theme for the hit TV series “The Nanny.”
Vocalist Cyrille Aimée – winner of the Montreux Jazz Festival’s Vocal Competition, the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and finalist in the Thelonious Monk Vocal Competition, Aimée is—in the words of Will Friedwald of The Wall Street Journal—”one of the most promising jazz singers of her generation.”
ARTIST BIO: A breathtaking collection of flowers and wild animals by celebrated artist MIHO GOTO. She was born in Tokyo, grew up in Fukushima. As a child, she developed an interest in many forms of art expression and her abilities were noticed. During that time, her classical piano career was living parallel existence to her artistic studies. MIHO has exhibited throughout the Metropolitan area including Tribeca and Soho of New York City. MIHO’s distinguished career in art began in 1994, when Peter Temmer who was an architecture and design director of City College of New York purchased two of her masterpieces, Pink Roses and Purple Iris as CUNY’s permanent collection.
