SUMMARY:Collective Soul - 25th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Collective Soul are pumped and primed to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2019 in all-out style! Ever since the barnburning rock band from Stockbridge\, Georgia burst onto the national scene with the runaway success of their multi-platinum 1994 debut Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid and its ensuing mega-smash hits like “Shine” and “Breathe\,” they’ve been on an upward trajectory that’s seen them play to sold-out audiences across the globe while concurrently amassing an impressive catalog of beloved songs instantly recognizable by their titles alone. Indelibly memorable tracks like “December\,” “The World I Know\,” “Gel\,” and “Heavy” (to name but a few) all evoke a collective sense of heartfelt observational universality and earnest positivity — in short\, they’re the jukebox heroes of a new generation. \nIn addition to celebrating their 25th anniversary\, Collective Soul is on tour supporting a new album\, Blood. Blood is the culmination of a quarter-century of Collective Soul assessing not only where they’ve come from\, but also where they’re going. “I think Blood expresses where we’ve been on this life journey\,” observes Roland. “And we’ve done so with songs featuring piano and strings to those with a lot of guitar riffs. Blood is an accumulation of all the different styles we’ve used over the years — but it’s still Collective Soul. I think it’s the best we’ve ever done. I know you should think that\, but I really do think it’s the best. It’s a good\, consistent record. We’re just so proud of it.” \nCollective Soul are: Ed Roland (vocals/guitar)\, Dean Roland (rhythm guitar)\, Jesse Triplett (lead guitar/background vocals)\, Will Turpin (bass/background vocals) and Johnny Rabb (drums/background vocals).

SUMMARY:Max Weinberg's Jukebox
DESCRIPTION:Longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band invites the audience to create the set list he and his crack four-piece group will play that night – everything from the Beatles to the Stones to Springsteen’s greatest hits. \nWeinberg\, the driving rhythmic force propelling  The E Street Band for 43 years\, is also known to millions of fans for his 17 year stint as the bandleader and comedic foil to talk show host Conan O’Brien and is the only musician in history to make the leap from a starring role in one of the world’s iconic rock groups to leading his eponymous band on NBC’s “Late Night” and “The Tonight Show”. And if that wasn’t enough Weinberg managed to do both gigs simultaneously from 1999-2009. \nThroughout his 50 year professional career Weinberg has played with some of the biggest and most diverse names in music-—James Brown\, Paul McCartney\, Bob Dylan\, BB King\, Tony Bennett\, Ringo Starr\, John Fogerty\, Stevie Winwood\, Sheryl Crow and Isaac Hayes.

SUMMARY:Rick Wakeman of YES - The Grumpy Old Rock Star Tour
DESCRIPTION:Keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman (of prog-rock band YES) will embark on his first solo tour of America in 13 years!  Wakeman’s The Grumpy Old Rock Star Tour will combine spellbinding piano music with sidesplitting jokes and revealing insights in-to his 50-plus-year career. Expect an evening of superb musicianship\, featuring music from YES\, Rick’s own solo epics and early Bowie hits\, plus fantastic arrangements of Beatles’ tunes\, and much\, much more\, interspersed with knockabout (and sometimes bawdy!) typically British humor. \nProfessional musician\, keyboard player\, songwriter\, broadcaster and raconteur\, Wakeman’s career started as a much-in-demand session player\, who performed on recordings by David Bowie\, Elton John\, Lou Reed\, Al Stewart and hundreds more artists. His big break came in 1971 when he joined YES\, who went on to become the most successful prog rock band in the world\, but Wakeman has also always gone his own way outside the framework of that group.

SUMMARY:Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice
DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES:\nTuesday\, October 15 at 4pm\nWednesday\, October 23 at 3pm\nThursday\, October 24 at 4pm & 7pm \nTickets are available at the door 30 minutes prior to show. \n\nWinner: HBO Audience Award / Best Documentary Feature\nProvincetown Film Festival 2019 \nLINDA RONSTADT: The Sound of My Voice is a musical biography of one of the most successful and versatile female singers of the 20th century – and one of the most successful recording artists of all time. At the height of unprecedented success\, Ronstadt\, a restless and adventurous artist\, turned away from pop music to explore an astonishing variety of musical styles\, from American standards to country to classical operetta before circling back to her family roots with traditional Mexican canciones. Withstanding constant pressure from a risk-averse industry\, Linda insisted on following her musical instincts. \nToday Ronstadt has Parkinson’s disease and her magnificent singing voice has been silenced. But rather than letting that voice be lost to history\, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice tells Linda’s story through her own words and music\, and by such professional colleagues as Dolly Parton\, Emmylou Harris\, Bonnie Raitt\, Jackson Browne\, Aaron Neville among many others. \n\nRated PG-13 / Running Time: 1hr 35min\n\nSee the songs of Linda Ronstadt performed live on The Playhouse stage on May 1\, 2020 by Tony Award nominee Ann Hampton Callaway in her show The Linda Ronstadt Songbook. BandJam has raised over $100\,000 since its inception.  When the three founders went off to college\, the torch was passed to local students Paige Hearon\, Will Rosenthal and Austin Steitzel.  Today\, BandJam continues to be guided by an amazing group of community-minded kids. \n100% OF ALL PROCEEDS FROM BANDJAM SUPPORT THE RIDGEFIELD PLAYHOUSE.

SUMMARY:Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Yusa & special guests - A Tuba to Cuba
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the lobby at 6:30pm for a complimentary Italian wine tasting by Pera Wines and an art exhibit by RPAC Gallery artists! \nNew Orleans famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band returns to the Playhouse with A Tuba to Cuba\, a tour inspired by the recent documentary about the band that retraces its musical roots from the storied city of jazz to the shores of Cuba. Breakout Cuban singer-songwriter Yusa and other special guests make this Latin-flavored PHJB show one you won’t want to miss! \nA message from PHJB: “A Tuba To Cuba is as much a soundtrack to our documentary as it is a collection of songs that we wrote and recorded during the filming and after its completion. The writing and recording of our previous release\, “So It Is” began before our first trip to Cuba in 2015. We had no idea that it would become the album it would until we returned home from that first trip. The “A Tuba To Cuba” soundtrack is comprised of a combination of songs that are both in the movie and new songs that aren’t in the film or couldn’t have been in the film because not until we were able to watch it ourselves\, we were again inspired to put that spirit into new music. Our five years exploring the Cuba/NOLA history has been inspiring to say the least.” \nALL TICKETS TO THIS SHOW INCLUDE ADMISSION TO THE SCREENING OF THE DOCUMENTARY FILM A TUBA TO CUBA ON 10/14.
