Get ready as The Ridgefield Playhouse introduces the next generation of new musicians to the world! The Ridgefield BandJam competition is back with some of the most talented local area middle and high school bands competing for the title of BandJam 2021 winner! Things heat up when Premier Rock Guitarist – Richie Scarlet performs as special guest with BandJam finalists on The Playhouse stage before a live audience! The “Bandjammers” will face a panel of judges from the music industry including: “American Idol” finalist Kimberly Locke, i95FM’s Ethan Carey, founder of Entourage Talent: Wayne Forte & more! The event is hosted by Christine O’Leary and includes a performance by Richie Scarlet The Show of Shows. A world-class musician, Scarlet has played with most of America’s best loved artists, including Alice Cooper, Sebastian Bach, Ace Frehley of KISS, Mountain, Chubby Checker, and many more. The Ridgefield Playhouse BandJam competition is open to area Middle School and High School bands. You do not need to attend Ridgefield Schools to participate. Bands will be grouped in two categories: High School (grades 9-12) & Middle School (grades 8 and below). This is the most exciting regional band competition going! This year, the event will also be livestreamed to watch from the comfort of your own home.
Prizes for the winning bands include cases courtesy of Calzone Case Co. & two hours of rehearsal plus video production at Bach to Rock Ridgefield! The winning high school band will have the opportunity to open for Eliot Lewis on June 20!
WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO BE AN ADULT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
After learning that the not-for-profit Ridgefield Playhouse was struggling in 2009, three Ridgefield boys wanted to do something to help. In 2010, Cole Butchen, Michael Rosamilia and Tucker Hearon created a benefit event called “Ridgefield BandJam” for not only Ridgefield students, but all area High School and Middle School students in bands that rock!
Under Playhouse leadership, the three boys spread awareness of BandJam and witnessed its growth over the years. BandJam has raised over $100,000 since its inception. When the three founders went off to college, the torch was passed to local students Paige Hearon, Will Rosenthal and Austin Steitzel. Today, BandJam continues to be guided by an amazing group of community-minded kids.
