Broadway comes back to The Ridgefield Playhouse!  jc-superstar-casting-call

As part of The Ridgefield Playhouse and Ridgefield Magazine Broadway & Cabaret Series, the Broadway smash hit musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” will be presented on March 25, 2017 at 2pm and 8pm.  This iconic musical has won multiple TONY Awards. Considered one of the most iconic musicals ever written, “Jesus Christ Superstar” includes legendary hits such as “Everything’s Alright,” “I Don’t Know How To Love Him,” and “Gethsemane.”  The Ridgefield Playhouse is THRILLED to present ACT’s Production of “Jesus Christ Superstar“. This one night special event features Broadway’s finest rock band, along with a cast of twenty Broadway stars (including members of the cast of the Broadway production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”!).  The producers have decided to cast a small children’s ensemble, as well as some local adult talent to appear in the production.

Please carefully read this casting announcement and only respond if you or your child can fulfill all of the obligations.  This is a chance to work with Broadway professionals right here in Ridgefield!

Children’s Ensemble: Seeking 10 children. Male/Female. Ages 8-12. To appear in three numbers of the show. Children will have three rehearsals in Ridgefield with the Broadway music director (March 18th morning, March 19th morning, March 23rd afternoon, and will also need to be available on March 24th, daytime for tech). All kids must sing well. All kids must be mature enough to quietly remain backstage (with a stage manager) during the live shows. A great opportunity to work with Broadway professionals and to add to the resume!

Adult ensemble: Seeking 3-5 adults (18+) to appear in three numbers of the show. Also will be looking at talent for upcoming ACT productions. Must have excellent singing voices and good stage presence. Must be available for all time commitments: March 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 (all in NYC) tech rehearsal March 24th at Ridgefield Playhouse, and the performances on March 25.

Please keep in mind:  “Jesus Christ Superstar” contains some adult themes.  Please be familiar with the musical and if you feel that the subject matter is too advanced for your child, do not apply for an audition.

“This is not a local production,” Producers Daniel C. Levine and Katie Tomlinson note, “It is a Broadway caliber production and everybody who will be performing on this stage has multiple Broadway shows under their belts.”

Backing up the main performers, will be a small group of aspiring child actors who will be cast locally to part of the children’s ensemble, as well as several local adult singers.

“These local actors will have the chance to work with Broadway professionals,” Levine notes. “All cast will rehearse with the musical director Bryan Perri, who’s the conductor of Wicked on Broadway. It’s going to be amazing, an unbelievable experience for all those involved.”
